Sunsets are one of my favorite things to photograph. I have seen many gorgeous sunsets in my lifetime. My favorite ones have been on a beach or a lake. There’s something about a body of water and a sunset combination. Very soothing. It makes you sit down, preferably with a glass of wine, and do nothing but watch the changing sky. I remember one sunset in particular in the British Virgin Islands. We were anchored on our sailboat for the evening, 70s music was playing, and we were enjoying a bit of wine after a wonderful dinner. The sky changed for a long time and had our full attention. I also have enjoyed many sunsets in the sky while flying from one destination to another. Love to get photos of the sunset on the tip of the plane’s wing. Other memorable sunsets have been in Hong Kong, Los Angeles Manhattan Beach, Austin, St Louis, and of course right here in Indiana.
Many times a sunset comes after rain storms. Rainbows and sunsets. This one came last night after evening storms. I was on my way home from a photography network group and just had to find a spot to pull over and take a few pictures. The sunset changed quite a bit in the few minutes I stood in the empty field clicking away. And every once in a while I just stopped in awe and just watched. What a beautiful site.
